Dr. Rogier Crolla Joins the Faculty of the European Academy of Robotic Colorectal Surgery (EARCS)                                                             

 

Today, the European Academy of Robotic Colorectal Surgery (EARCS) announced a new robotic colorectal surgeon will join the EARCS faculty:

Dr. Crolla is a gastro-intestinal and oncology certified Consultant Surgeon at Amphia Hospital in Breda, a large teaching hospital and one of the largest colorectal units in the Netherlands. He was trained at the University Medical Centre Utrecht and the Antonius Hospital Nieuwegein (Dr. Ton Janssen) to be one of the first generation laparoscopic surgeons in the Netherlands. In 1995, he introduced advanced laparoscopy in Breda. His main topics of interest and research are colorectal surgery and patient safety (fast recovery protocols, bundles of care and peri-operative checklists). He works in close collaboration with his colleague Dr. George van der Schelling. Together they started a robotic colorectal program in 2012. Amphia Hospital is the leading centre for robotic colorectal cancer surgery in the Netherlands. Dr. Crolla is an international proctor for robotic colorectal surgery.

Currently, the EARCS faculty consists of 22 expert robotic colorectal surgeons from 9 European countries, as well as an anatomy expert.
