EARCS releases the Robotic Single Docking Total Mesorectal Excision (TME) Training DVD

 

On 12 August 2015, the European Academy for Robotic Colorectal Surgery (EARCS) released the training DVD titled 'Modular Approach to Robotic Single Docking Total Mesorectal Excision (TME)'. The DVD was created in conjunction with Minimally Invasive Colorectal Unit (MICU) at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth (UK), Ankara University in Ankara (Turkey) and the Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon (Portugal).

 

The training course is presented by a number of EARCS faculty members, including:

  • Professor Amjad Parvaiz, MICU Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, UK and Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal
  • Professor Bill Heald, Pelican Cancer Foundation in Basingstoke, UK and Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, UK
  • Professor Ayhan Kuzu, Ankara University in Ankara, Turkey

The training DVD incorporates the following modules:

  • Introduction
  • Anatomy
  • Animation (surgical technique)
  • Surgery (robotic TME with the da Vinci Si System) covering: Positioning and Port Placement, Vascular Isolation, Lateral Mobilisation, Proctectomy, Transaction and Anastomosis.
